1970 C-10 PICK UP 149K miles (not 249).  All orig 307 was tanked, balanced, & completely rebuilt at Simonek Automotive in NJ at 123K miles (engine now has 26K miles) with all stock replacement parts from either GM or Summit.  New parts at rebuild include rings, all crank & cam bearings, Summit stock 307-spec'd cam, oil pump, fuel pump, valve guides, rocker arms, seals, springs, pilot bushing, throw-out bearing, & GM clutch.  Also had exhaust seats hardened.  Engine does not use or leak oil at all.  No coolant or vacuum leaks either.  Only aftermarket parts consist of a Mallory Unilite distributor & matching coil (best thing I ever did - runs consistent with no trouble).  Also installed in the last 20K miles were full dual-exhaust system (1 tail-pipe slightly mis-aligned which I didn't notice until later with very slight leak at left rear muff-to-pipe joint).  It makes a rattling sound when cold but gone when warmed up.  In last 5K miles installed brand new manual steering gearbox, new alternator, new all steel brake lines, new all 3 parking-brake cables, all 3 driveshaft universals with balancing, brand-new rear drums, all new brake hardware/spring kits, shoes, new wheel cylinders all around, brand-new-in-box 2bbl carb, & cleaned front drums (still within factory tolerance spec). Orig 3-spd trans runs fine - makes no noise, & fluid just changed for comfort's sake.  Shifter was converted from 3-on-the-tree to the floor.  Rear-end was just wiped clean with new gear oil added within last 50 miles.  New Sears shocks all around (air shocks in rear – which do not leak at all).  Tires on rear are excellent & just-bought Sears tires on front brand new with no miles.  Front end just greased (all 17 points).  Wheel bearings also just greased at last brake job.  This is the last year for 6-lug wheels & heavier-duty style rear for a C-10 series.  The engine compartment isn’t all pretty & shiny; I simply re-did everything out of a functionality interest.  Truck was white from factory - last owner already had it repainted '66 Mustang red when I bought it 11/94.  The truck is not filled with bondo or plastic.  It’s all metal & filler was only used where necessary to get things smooth for shading.  Has new 2-channel 70-watt amp under seat with cheapo $80 stereo which works fine through the 2 door speakers which are old but function OK.  Aftermarket SW voltmeter gauge in dash works fine but once in a while needs a finger-tap on the glass since the needle just sticks a little sometimes.  Speedo & fuel gauges work perfect.  Same for generator light.  The orig bench seat has the usual expected wear & sunken 'beat-up-ness' on the driver’s side.  The decorative horn center-cap on the aftermarket steering wheel has a tendency to pop off in your lap sometimes due to weak tabs but works fine.  The tail-gate hinge/pivot-point on the left-side 1/4 panel is gone (thanks to Mother Nature) & needs to be repaired.  Right-side rocker is completely gone (again Mother you-know-who) but truck also comes with new one that I just bought.  Left side was already replaced.  Has all orig glass, though driver’s door glass isn’t perfect – has a few scratches.  Orig windshield, rear glass, & right-door glass are excellent.  The drivers-side window will also probably need new fuzzy weather-stripping, which probably explains the lower corner door rust.  The outer layer of chrome finish on the front bumper has peeled off in spots but it is not rusty; the metal is fine.  Push-button spring in driver's side door handle (where your thumb goes) doesn't 'spring' anymore but handle & button do work as normal, even though button doesn’t pop back out.  Doors close perfectly - they don’t sag at all.  The cold-to-hot temp slider thumb-knob broke off but slider still works fine if you use a screwdriver tip to adjust it.  Dome light, signals, tail-lights, headlights, brake lights work fine.  Right-rear side marker out – needs a bulb.  Last inspected at NJ state DMV 9/02 which is the last time I drove it regularly except for the occasional monthly cruise around the block to prevent flat-spots & keep the cobwebs off.  Had bed-box for tools mounted at one time which explains the 5/16” hole on top of each 1/4 panel. The bed-box door in the right-side 1/4 panel has been long gone (missing).  The truck is not a show-piece visually but all the metal is complete right to the lips/edges.  It's simply a neat-looking 20/20 daily-driver truck in which I made every attempt to maintain mechanically for dependability & reliability & is a great candidate for a resto if you want to go that route.  As much as it sounds like a ‘line’, I used it mostly for driving to mom's every Sunday for dinner & for occasional cruising/hanging out etc.  Currently insured through Hagerty who put an $8K appraised value on it.  90% of the work for a resto is the aesthetics (what you see body-wise).  It would need a re-paint due to various spots where the paint did not adhere properly, but it’s not rusty anywhere.  It’s not a perfect paint job but looks neat & the body is fine other than the obvious that you see in the pics. The frame & floors are solid with the expected 35-yr seasoning of dirt on the undercarriage.  Front end wheel-alignment & balancing also just done at Sears Automotive ~100 miles ago & rides nice & straight.  As much as I love this truck - & I really mean that - I'm selling it for the simple reality that I have not had any use for it since the day I moved to my new place 3 yrs ago, & as much as I'd like to, have no practical need to keep it anymore.  Plus I can't afford to maintain 3 vehicles.  It’s just too much.  Along with the right-side rocker, I also have a spare hood & tailgate in excellent condition which comes with it.  I don't drive it in the summer because I have my daily econo rice-grinder for that & I won't drive it in the winter now due to residence location - I get LOTS of snow (therefore road-salt).  I have my absolutely-rotted-and-beat-to-beyond-all-bloody-hell-230K mile 4-wheel drive ex-construction K-2500 p/u for that.  If the C-10 was 4-whl drive then I'd most likely keep it because I do like this truck a lot.  It’s always been 100% roadworthy & dependable & has never thrown me an argument.  Never once had a breakdown of any sort.  I believe I covered everything, but feel free to call or write with any other questions or requests for pics if you like.  In-person visits at home also welcome.  I live in northern NJ in the West Milford area.  I’ll even deliver it if you’re not more than 2 or 3 hrs away.  *Note - I have not & never will drive this truck anywhere in or near NYC for fear of the obvious. I will only go as far as meeting you at the border.  My work phone is 212 510 4119 / 8-4EST.  Cell - 917 678 2572.  Home – 973 208 6664.  e-mail - charles.bari@thomson.com or spacehog@verizon.net
